At Corbin Dental, we are dedicated to offering our patients the latest treatments options, such as dental implants,. Dental implants can be used in a variety of ways depending on your specific needs. When used in conjunction with removable dentures, dental implants can form a treatment known as implant supported dentures. This solution improves upon traditional dentures by giving them added stability for enhanced functioning.

Traditional dentures simply rest on top of your gums, providing no stimulation to the bone or soft tissue. Over time this allows for deterioration of the facial structure. Implant supported dentures solve this problem by attaching the dentures to dental implants. patients can now enjoy the convenience of removable dentures while still getting the stability of dental implants.

What are implant dentures?

Implant supported dentures are a form of removable denture that can be attached to set of dental implants. patients can then have a secure, fitting denture that does not slip out of place or require any adhesives. Implant supported dentures can also be removed at any time, making cleaning and maintenance a breeze. Currently, there are two basic types of implant supported dentures to choose from:

Bar-retained Dentures Supported by Dental Implants– This requires that a patient receive a set of three or more implants. A metal bar is then constructed to run along the gum line and is attached to the dental implants. atients can then secure their dentures to the bar using a set of clips or other attachments.

Ball-retained Dentures Supported by Dental Implants– This method uses a ball and socket method to hold the dentures in place. Typically the denture is fitted with sockets on the bottom of the base to correspond with a set of ball like attachments on top of the implants. Patients receive the most stability with this method.

Implant supported dentures provide patients with a secure fit to eliminate any looseness or slippage that may occur with traditional dentures. Although they can be placed anywhere, implant supported dentures are most often placed in the lower jaw where stability is needed most.
